Family Connection
Family Communication Portal for Adult Day & Disability Programs
Families want meaningful updates. Organizations need a way to share them without exposing the entire internal care record.
A curated private family feed
The intended Family Connection experience allows authorized staff to prepare a family-safe update about a recipient's day, participation, interests or progress. A family member would see only updates intentionally shared for that recipient.
A staff note is not automatically published to families. Internal observations, audit records, incident details and medication information can contain confidential information that should not appear in a general family feed.
Questions and replies in context
Family members could respond with questions or notes within an authorized conversation, and staff could reply within their assigned role. The goal is a more useful communication history than isolated texts or rushed pickup conversations.
Notifications would indicate that an update is available without unnecessarily exposing sensitive details on a locked screen or email preview.
Goal and insight summaries that are appropriate for families
An organization may choose to share approved goal updates, progress explanations and simplified descriptive insights. These summaries should be written in understandable language and omit restricted internal measurements or staff-only content.
Family-facing summaries are distinct from internal organizational reports. Sharing is subject to the organization's permissions and consent practices.
Invitations, permissions and revocation
Organization administrators would manage invitations and scope of access. A family member might be allowed to see updates but not goals, and access can be revoked when no longer appropriate.
Personal caregiving and organization-owned records must remain separate. Family status does not confer general staff access.
Questions people ask
Can families read all staff notes?
No. Family Connection is designed around curated, permission-controlled information instead of unrestricted chart access.
